Overview
Every designated premises needs three certified Fire Safety Officers alongside its Fire Safety Manager. The FSO is the person on the floor, running drills, checking systems, spotting the blocked exit on a normal day. This course certifies them to the JBPM standard and trains them for what actually goes wrong, not just for the assessment.
The last day isn't in a classroom
Theory gets you through the assessment. It doesn't tell you what a charged hose feels like, or how little you can see through smoke. Your final day runs at a Bomba training facility, in full PPE and breathing apparatus, taught by trainers who spent decades doing this for real.
Full PPE and SCBA
25 sets of fire suits, helmets, boots, gloves, hoods and breathing apparatus. Everyone gets kitted, nobody watches.

Live scenario work at an official Bomba training ground, not a hotel conference hall.
Who it's for
- The three Fire Safety Officers each designated building must appoint.
- Facility managers, building managers, safety officers and emergency response team members.
- Anyone holding at least an SPM who is taking on a fire safety role.
Eligibility, in short
FSO applicants must be Malaysian citizens and hold at least an SPM (or a recognised equivalent), or be a former Fire Officer, and pass the FSO competency examination. Full criteria are on our eligibility page.

Where it runs
Classroom days are held at UTM Kuala Lumpur, a premium campus in the heart of the city, with proper training halls, comfortable rooms, meals and an attached mall. The final day runs at an official Bomba training facility for live practical work.
